DSS-GB 2nd Overall at World Championships

Team at Heathrow

What a fantastic week of competition at the 9th DSISO Down Syndrome World Swimming Championships in Nova Scotia, Canada.

DSS-GB were second overall behind Australia after a hard-fought week. Competition in all categories – T21, Mosaic, Open, Juniors and Masters  – was intense and team spirit was really high. DSS-GB’s Ellen Stephenson was Top Female Mosaic Swimmer, Mark Evens was 3rd T21 Male and, despite being in the Junior category, Harvey Stonebank still managed to achieve 3rd Mosaic Male. The DSS-GB coaches and supporters relay team even won gold!

Ably assisted by the poolside team, all DSS-GB swimmers achieved personal bests with Harvey breaking an Open Mosaic World Record and Ellen breaking 4!

There is loads more information about the team and what they have been up to on our Facebook page.

When they weren’t in the pool, the team had the most amazing week of fun and friendship exploring Canada and meeting people from all over the world.

DSS-GB will continue to lobby for inclusion of our swimmers at the Tokyo games and if you’d like to help you can sign this petition.
