British Records
British Record Application Rules
- Swimmers must hold or be eligible to hold a British passport.
- If a swimmer has elected to represent a country other than Great Britain, then their time will not be eligible to be considered for a British record.
- Short course (25m) and long course (50m) records may be established for each event (as applicable).
- Records will be maintained separately for Trisomy 21 and Mosaic Down Syndrome.
- Records will be maintained separately for the Male/Open and Female categories.
- Records must be achieved at licensed events, DSISO events, Virtus events or at events registered with Swim England, Scottish Swimming or Swim Wales where the results are published in the public domain to ensure transparency.
- Times must be recorded using electronic timing equipment.
- For events licensed by SE, SS or SW at Levels 1 or 2, results submitted to Rankings will be sufficient evidence for records to be claimed. An application form, without the competition referee’s signature, should be completed and emailed to [email protected] within 28 days of the race.
- For all other events, the application form must be signed by the competition referee and a copy of the electronic timing report, signed by the referee, must accompany all applications. The application form, the signed timing report and either a copy of the event results or an electronic link to the results should be submitted by email to [email protected] within 28 days of the race.
- Records achieved at licensed meets will be checked via the www.swimmingresults.org rankings database.
- If approved, records will be published on the DSS-GB website within 28 days of receipt of the application.
